Even at 1-1 I would have been quite content with the overall performance, 3-1 will do very nicely. It wasn’t the best, but we were back to the control. Rodri was fundamental to tonight’s result but Bernardo played an important role and hopefully he has come out unscathed, we’ll need him fully fit against Arsenal. The passing was sharper and more precise than some recent games, perhaps the result of the familiarity of the starting 11 with each other. It was interesting to see how far Akanji and Lewis pushed up at times, not sure Akanji is overly convincing in that role, but then again neither was Ake when he was moved to left-back last season. It was good to see Nunes getting a few minutes and a bit of a confidence boost after being subbed at half-time at the weekend. Men of the match, for me; academy graduate Lewis and the absolute bargain that is Alvarez.
