The much-anticipated auction of a charity prize home in Henley Beach South has surpassed expectations and set a new suburb record.

The luxurious four-bedroom beachside home at 47A Esplanade sold for a whopping $4.7 million under the hammer on Saturday afternoon.

The beachfront home was valued at $3.5 million and came fully-furnished when it was raffled off in April last year as the grand prize in a charity lottery promoted by the Hospital Research Foundation.

The lucky winner, Phil of Para Hills, had put the house on the market through Ray White Henley Beach’s Jae Curtis and Anthony Fahey.

According to the CoreLogic data, the sale marks a new residential price record for the suburb.

The top spot was previously held by 135 Esplanade that sold for $3,350,000 in February 2011.

The auction conducted by Jonathan Moore had 15 registered bidders and kicked off with a vendor bid of $3.5 million.

It also drew in the crowds with nearly 300 people eager to watch the auction proceedings and the final result.

“We had interest from everywhere – local, interstate and international buyers. It’s a stunning property and it was offered fully furnished,” said Mr Curtis.

“There were people everywhere and the auction was fast and furious. It was all over in just five minutes. In the end, a local bidder won the keys to the beautiful home,” he said.

Overlooking one of Adelaide’s premier beaches, the modern beachside home was constructed in 2019 by the award-winning builder, Scott Salisbury Homes.

The fully-furnished and professionally decorated home has an open plan living and dining area that boasts unrestricted and spectacular views of the beach.

The master bedroom on the first floor features a large built-in robe and ensuite bathroom.

A spacious second living area separates the master bedroom from the other bedrooms. The outdoor alfresco entertaining area comes with a SMEG BBQ and is ideal for evening soirees.

The kitchen is a home chef’s delight and is fitted with state-of-the-art appliances. There’s a custom-built wine shelving and a butler’s pantry as well.

The home features three luxuriously appointed bathrooms with floor to ceiling tiles and premium fittings. A detached double garage has access from Seaview Road.
